About the "Bear Tale"

Black Bear's Hudson Valley Tale is a 1-hour long theatrical concert for children and their families and Madera Vox's answer to Sergei Prokofiev's classic narrated concert for children "Peter and the Wolf."

And off we go exploring.

If a bear sings in the woods, does anyone hear it? That is the question Madera Vox has been asking along with children's author and illustrator Iza Trapani and Director/Choreographer Marleen Pennison. Together we've created, collaborated, laughed and learned how to tell (and sing!) this tale. Black Bear's Hudson Valley Tale is a "musical storytelling" that will become a classic for children and their families here in the Hudson Valley, and everywhere a good story is appreciated. Although the story takes place in our beautiful Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains, the archetypal hero's journey and his transformational experience is one that can be shared by children all over the world .
